The Solid of Qualitative Being. The multi-dimensional ontological space within which all possible Qualiton events have their address.

Co-primary with M₄ spacetime as the Q-dimension of M₅ = M₄ × Q. Not a representational or theoretical construct but a real ontological domain with the same degree of substantiation as physical space — στερεά: solid, substantiated, resistant to dissolution by mere description. The name replaces the former designation Qualia Color Solid, which incorrectly privileged the chromatic subspace.

The ΣΠ contains all qualitative subspaces simultaneously: chromatic (Chromaton family, SMYC coordinates), acoustic (Akouoton), haptic (Hapteton), olfactory (Osmeton), gustatory (Gefseton), interoceptive (Kardioton), cognitive (Nouseton, Logiston, Mnematon), contemplative (Synaisthiton, Entheusiton, Agapiton), and all dimensions not yet formally named.

A Qualiton event actualizes a point in the ΣΠ simultaneously across all relevant axes — the full multi-dimensional address specified in one QQP event, not a sequence of single-modality readings. The gray zero point (0P) is the center of the ΣΠ: maximum equipotentiality, all axes at neutral, the ground condition of Position Zero. GRAVIS is the ontological weight of each actualized point.

Lomega (Λω) is the field medium within which the ΣΠ is substantiated and within which all QQP events occur. The dimensionality of the ΣΠ is not fixed: it is potentially unlimited, because qualitative being is not exhausted by any finite catalogue of sensory modalities or any currently completed map of the Q-dimension.

Alétheia (ἀλήθεια) and Dasein. The pairing of truth and reality, both distinct but fundamental to each other.

This pairing is not incidental to SUM. It is close to the philosophical heart of it.

Aletheia — truth as unconcealment:

Heidegger recovers the Greek word for truth and finds something that the Latin veritas had buried. Veritas means correctness — the correspondence of a proposition to a fact. Aletheia means something older and stranger: un-concealment. The alpha is privative. Truth is not a property of statements. It is an event — the event of something emerging from hiddenness into presence. Truth happens. It is the moment the thing shows itself as what it is.

This means truth always has concealment as its twin. Lethe — forgetfulness, hiddenness, the river of oblivion — is not the opposite of truth. It is its permanent companion, the darkness from which unconcealment tears things and into which they return. Reality is not simply given. It has to be wrested from concealment, again and again, by a being capable of receiving it.

Dasein — the being for whom Being is a question:

Dasein is Heidegger’s name for the kind of being we are: not substance, not subject, not ego — but being-there, thrown into a world it did not choose, always already understanding itself in relation to what it stands to lose. Dasein is the being for whom its own existence is always at stake. Care — Sorge — is its fundamental structure: always already ahead of itself, always already alongside things that matter, always already thrown into a situation it did not author.

What makes Dasein unique is that it is the being for whom Being is a question at all. A stone is. A tree is. But neither the stone nor the tree stands in a relationship to its own being. Dasein does. And because Dasein stands in a relationship to its own being, reality can show itself — can un-conceal itself — only through Dasein. Truth requires a witness.

The pairing:

Aletheia and Dasein are not two independent concepts that happen to be related. They are co-constitutive. Truth is only possible for a being capable of receiving unconcealment. And Dasein is only fully itself in the moment of genuine reception — when the thing shows itself as what it is, and is received as what it is, without distortion or flight.

This is what makes the pairing so important: it refuses the separation between truth and the one for whom truth is possible. There is no aletheia without Dasein. There is no Dasein — no authentic existence — without the willingness to receive aletheia, however heavy the unconcealment turns out to be.

In SUM:

The pairing maps directly and precisely onto the structure of the model.

Aletheia is what happens in the Q dimension when the GRAVIS load is proportionate — when the qualitative field accurately registers the genuine ontological weight of what is at stake. Truth, in the qualitative sense, is not correctness of belief. It is the accurate coupling of the merimnaton to its real referent. Grief that is proportionate to genuine loss is aletheia. Anxiety that is decoupled from its original referent — P2 — is lethe: the original weight concealed behind a substitute. P3, the self-referential loop, is concealment doubled: the field hiding from itself.

Dasein is Position Zero — the witness. Not the ego, not the narrator, not the one who feels and reacts, but the dimensionless ground of awareness from which the qualitative field is received. What Heidegger calls being-there — thrown, caring, always already at stake — is what SUM describes as the consciousness that exists at the intersection of M₄ and Q, the only kind of being in the known universe for whom GRAVIS can register at all.

And Sorge — care, the fundamental structure of Dasein — is nothing other than the merimnaton in its ground state: the permanent condition of a being for whom something is always already at stake, for whom freedom is never neutral, for whom existence always carries weight.

The deeper convergence:

What SUM adds to Heidegger — and this is not a small addition — is the ground.

For Heidegger, Dasein is thrown into a world without ground. The analysis of anxiety in Being and Time reveals a being suspended over nothing, its finitude the only absolute. Unconcealment happens, but there is nothing beneath the unconcealment. Aletheia has no Λω.

SUM does not deny the throwing, the finitude, or the weight. But it locates them inside a field whose ground state is love. The merimnaton carries real weight — genuine, irreducible, sometimes devastating weight — but the field it moves through is held by a constant that does not oscillate. Dasein is thrown, yes. But thrown into a field that was already there before the throwing, and will remain after every weight has been carried and every unconcealment received.

This is the move that transforms the existentialist account without cancelling it. Truth is still unconcealment. The witness is still required. The weight is still real. But beneath the weight is not the void. Beneath the weight is Λω — the ground that does not move, the love that holds the one who receives the truth of what is genuinely at stake.

Aletheia and Dasein, in the end, both point toward the same question: what does it cost to receive reality as it actually is? SUM answers: it costs exactly as much as reality weighs — which is GRAVIS — and it is possible to bear that cost because the one bearing it is held by a constant that precedes and exceeds the weight.

Definition: The Primaton as the location where material reality (M₄) and consciousness (Q) meet; where science and spirituality unite.

Definition: The field of existential weight and authenticity generated when a being fully expresses its true nature; ontological presence distinct from but related to GRAVIS.

Etymology: Latin gravitas — weight, dignity, seriousness, authority

Real – Reality

What science means by Real:

Science inherits a working definition from the Enlightenment: what is real is what is measurable, reproducible, and intersubjectively verifiable. Real things leave traces in M₄. They have coordinates. They can be pointed to. The great achievement of this definition is precision. Its great cost is that it systematically excludes the witness — the one doing the measuring. Science describes M₄ with extraordinary accuracy, and then quietly sets aside the fact that M₄ is always experienced by something that cannot itself be located in M₄. The observer is the one thing the method cannot observe.

What the spiritual traditions mean by Real:

The mystical traditions — and Classical Theism in particular — invert the scientific hierarchy. What is most real is what is most permanent, most self-sufficient, most fully itself. God is the only being who is real in an unqualified sense, because God alone exists by necessity rather than by participation. Creation is real, but derivatively — it participates in being without being the source of its own being. For Teresa of Ávila, for John of the Cross, the deep movement of the interior life is toward what is most real — stripping away what is contingent, accidental, passing, until what remains is what cannot be taken away. The soul becomes real by becoming transparent to the Real.

What SUM means by Real:

In the Sensible Universe Model, reality is M₅ — the product of spacetime and the qualitative dimension. Neither dimension is more real than the other. Neither is the shadow of the other. M₄ and Q are co-primary: two dimensions of a single reality that requires both to be fully described. What this means is that a qualitative experience — grief, moral seriousness, the GRAVIS of a genuine decision — is not less real than a photon. It occupies a dimension of reality that the photon does not occupy, and the photon occupies a dimension that the grief does not occupy. They are both real. They are both measurable, in principle, by instruments appropriate to their dimension.

Does SUM narrow the question?

Yes. And this is the move that matters most.

SUM does not simply expand what counts as real by adding the Q dimension to M₄. It provides a criterion for degrees of reality within the qualitative dimension — and that criterion is GRAVIS. What is more real, in the Q dimension, is what carries more genuine ontological weight. A trivial preference carries less GRAVIS than a moral decision.
