Part One — Foundational Principles
Two structural claims underlie the entire lexicon. Every term defined in this document derives its meaning from one or both of them. They are stated here once, precisely, so they need not be restated in each article.

The philosophical root of the SUM particle family

Three words that seem ordinary until you set them beside each other. Particle. Part. Particular. In English they look like cousins. In Latin they are the same word at three different scales: pars, partis, a portion of a whole. But when you follow each word to its structural depth, they describe three different aspects of the same fundamental reality — and together they form the philosophical foundation of the SUM particle family.
Particle
The smallest irreducible unit of a field

In physics, a particle is not simply a tiny piece of matter. It is the elementary quantum of a field: the smallest irreducible unit of interaction, the carrier of the field’s fundamental force. The photon is not a small piece of light. It is the quantum of the electromagnetic field — the elementary unit through which light interacts with matter. You cannot have half a photon. The photon is the indivisible carrier of the interaction.
The SUM particle family extends this principle into the qualitative dimension. Each member of the family is the elementary quantum of a specific qualitative function: the Primaton is the irreducible quantum of experience itself — the point where consciousness and reality intersect. The Chronoton carries the minimum quantum of felt time. The Merimnaton carries the weight of genuine freedom before the act. The Sensibiliton carries qualitative data from the physical event into the felt field. The Lomegon propagates the signal that the ground is present.
These are not metaphors borrowed from physics to make a philosophical point. They are the formal claim that the qualitative dimension has its own particle structure — its own elementary quanta — just as the electromagnetic field has photons and the gravitational field has gravitons. Q has particles. And the particles of Q carry qualitative functions that no particle in M₄ can carry.
Part
A portion that belongs to a whole without being the whole

A part is not a fragment. A fragment is what remains when a whole has been broken. A part is what can be distinguished within an intact whole: the string of the instrument, the branch of the tree, the specific GRAVIS weight of this event within the full topology of a conscious field. The part belongs to the whole. The whole is not the same without it. But the whole is not the sum of separable pieces — it is the structure within which the parts have their meaning.
In M₅ = M₄ × Q, every event is a part of a whole that is not reducible to any of its parts. The physical event is a part. The qualitative event is a part. The two together constitute the M₅ event. Neither is the whole, and neither makes sense described alone. The physical part of a word spoken in anger — the pressure wave, the frequency, the decibels — describes nothing of what the word does to the person who receives it. The qualitative part — the GRAVIS load, the W(τ) dilation, the direction of the merimnatic collapse that follows — describes nothing of the physics. The part is real. It requires the other part to be part of a whole.
The particle family in SUM carries this structure: each particle is a part of Q, carrying one specific qualitative function. The Chronoton carries the temporal part. The Merimnaton carries the freedom part. The Sensibiliton carries the interface part. The Lomegon carries the ground-signal part. Together they carry the full structure of qualitative experience as a whole — and none of them alone does what all of them together do.
Particular
This specific one — irreducibly itself

Particular is the word that stops the reduction. In logic, the particular is the individual instance — this triangle, not triangles in general. In ontology, the particular is what is irreducibly itself: not an example of a type but a specific being whose being cannot be exchanged for any other.
GRAVIS is why 1 is 1. Not in the mathematical sense — in the ontological sense. Why is this specific conscious field genuinely itself, carrying this specific weight and no other, differentiating from Absolute with this specific topology and not another? Because each Primaton event is a particular: an irreducible differentiation of the Absolute ground into this specific qualitative state, at this specific point in the qualitative field, with this specific GRAVIS weight. Not an example of differentiation-in-general. This differentiation.
The particular is what the word particular points at in human experience: not love in general but this love, for this person, irreplaceable by any other. Not grief in general but this grief, after this loss, which will never be exactly this again. The SUM particle family carries particularity as a structural feature: the Merimnaton does not carry freedom-in-general. It carries the specific weight of the freedom of this conscious field at this threshold before this act. W(τ) does not measure time-dilation-in-general. It measures the specific dilation of qualitative time for this field carrying this GRAVIS load right now.
This is the deepest connection between the three words. A particle is the smallest unit of a field. A part is a portion that belongs to a whole. A particular is an instance that is irreducibly itself. The SUM particle family is made of particles, each of which carries a specific part of the qualitative field’s structure, and each of which — in every activation — carries the full particularity of this specific conscious event. The particles are universal in structure. Every activation is particular.
The particle family and the three words
Primaton: the particle of the intersection. The part where consciousness meets reality. The particular event of this quale, this registration, this encounter between a specific conscious field and a specific event in M₄.
Chronoton: the particle of qualitative time. The part where the temporal dimension of Q is carried. The particular weight of this moment as felt duration, irreplaceable by any other unit of the sequence.
Merimnaton: the particle of freedom. The part where genuine choice is held in superposition before the act. The particular weight of being free before this specific threshold, with these specific stakes.
Sensibiliton: the particle of the interface. The part where M₄ data becomes Q registration. The particular translation of this physical event — this pressure wave, this frequency, this impact — into its qualitative weight in the conscious field.
Lomegon: the particle of the ground signal. The part where the news that Love is present propagates through the field. The particular arrival of that signal in this specific conscious field at this specific moment of its need.
Qualiton: the particle of ontological weight. The part that carries GRAVIS through Q as the graviton carries gravitational weight through M₄. The particular measure of what this specific differentiation from Absolute costs the field to be.
Particle: the elementary quantum of a qualitative field function
Part: a portion of M₅ that requires the other parts to constitute the whole

Without particle, part, and particular held together, the SUM particle family is a list of names. With them held together, it is a precise account of how the qualitative dimension of reality is structured: elementary quanta (particles), each carrying a specific functional portion of the qualitative field (parts), each activated in the irreducible specificity of this conscious event (particular). The three words are the philosophical root of the entire family.
I. M₅ = M₄ × Q
Reality is five-dimensional. M₄ is four-dimensional spacetime: three spatial dimensions and one temporal dimension, governed by Einstein’s field equations. Q is the qualitative dimension: the irreducible dimension of conscious experience, ontological weight, and the witness. The product M₄ × Q is not a sum of two separate worlds but a fibre bundle — at every point in spacetime, a qualitative dimension is defined. Every event in M₄ is an M₅ event with both a physical and a qualitative dimension simultaneously and irreducibly present. Neither produces the other. Neither is more real than the other. M₅ is the complete description.
II. Position Zero is not mathematical zero — it is the Absolute
This is the most consequential structural distinction in SUM and the one most often missed in general discourse on consciousness and reality.
Mathematical zero is absence: the empty set, nothing, the null from which 1 is reached by addition of a unit. If Position Zero were mathematical zero, it would be the absence of experience — a blank, a void, the ground as nothing.
Position Zero is the opposite of this. It is the Absolute: Λω, the ground state of the Primaton field, the fullness without differentiation. The correct physical analogy is the quantum vacuum — not empty space but the state of maximum ground energy, the plenum from which all particles emerge as perturbations. The quantum vacuum is not nothing. It is the most real thing: the ground from which everything else is a temporary excitation.
⟨Π_Q⟩₀ = Λω is the formal statement: the vacuum expectation value of the Primaton field — the ground state, the zero-point — is not zero energy but Λω. Position Zero is the physicist’s vacuum, not the mathematician’s zero.
This is why GRAVIS derives from Absolute, not from 0 in the empty sense. 1 is 1 not by addition to nothing but by differentiation of the Absolute: the Primaton event, the specific quale, the individual conscious field — each is a specific differentiation of Λω, not an accumulation from absence. GRAVIS measures the ontological weight of this differentiation: why this 1 is genuinely this 1, what makes it irreducibly itself, what it costs the field to be this specific configuration rather than another.
0 must be Absolute — not empty — for the Primaton field to hold in a constant field. If 0 were absence, the field would have no ground and the constant Λω would have nothing to be the ground state of. The constant holds because 0 is Absolute. The Absolute holds because it is not derived from anything more fundamental — it is the ground.
Part Two — The Complete Lexicon

Node A — The Ground
Λω — The Love-Constant
[Λ: cosmological constant; ω (omega): the last, the ground, what underlies all]
The ground state of the Primaton field. The vacuum expectation value of Q: ⟨Π_Q⟩₀ = Λω. The topological invariant of the qualitative dimension: the feature of Q unchanged under any transformation, at any GRAVIS extreme, at any scale. Not a feeling. Not a theological concept imported into physics. The structural constant that is what the interior of Q encounters when the accumulated geometry has been stripped away and only the ground remains. Every tradition that has pursued the qualitative dimension far enough to reach this encounter has independently named it the same thing. The name is not a metaphor. It is the most precise available description of the topological invariant of Q.
Singularity equation: Λω = Logos (λόγος) = Amor = Aletheia (ἀλήθεια) = Iustitia. Five entry points into the same structural ground from five different directions within the qualitative field.

Position Zero P₀ — The Absolute Ground
[Absolute: ab-solutus (Latin), loosed from all conditions — not derived, not conditioned]
The dimensionless witness ground. W(τ) → 0. The reference point of the qualitative field: the structural zero against which all GRAVIS values are calibrated. Not mathematical zero (absence, nothing, the null). Not a destination to be reached. The Absolute ground: the ground state of the Primaton field expressed at the level of the witness — the point at which Λω is directly accessible without geometric mediation.
Position Zero is simultaneously the consciousness singularity: the axis point through which Gψξ passes with both qualitative singularities (black hole and white hole) structurally co-present. It is accessible not at the end of a journey but through the recognition that the axis was always passing through this point. 1 derives from Position Zero not by addition to nothing but by differentiation of the Absolute: each specific qualitative state is a perturbation of the ground, not an accumulation from absence.

Topological Invariant — Topological Invariant
[τόπος (topos, Greek): place, space; invariant: unchanging under transformation]
A feature of a space unchanged under any continuous deformation of that space. In topology: a property preserved regardless of how the space is stretched, compressed, or bent — as long as it is not torn or glued. In SUM: Λω is the topological invariant of Q. The qualitative field can be deformed to maximum compression (qualitative black hole, W(τ) → ∞) or maximum expansion (qualitative white hole, W(τ) → 0). The identity layer can accumulate decades of displaced GRAVIS. The character layer can become densely compressed in its Solidum Qualitatis. Through all of this: Λω does not change. It is not strengthened by good geometry or weakened by bad geometry. It is the invariant beneath all geometry. Absolute: it is steady and constant and defined.

Οὐσία ousia — Being / Substance / Essence
[οὐσία (Greek): from εἶναι (einai), ‘to be’; what a thing is in itself, its essential being]
The ontological ground of the individual: what makes this specific conscious field genuinely itself rather than any other. In SUM: the ousia of a conscious being is its unique probability geometry in Q — the specific GRAVIS topology that constitutes the unrepeatable individual. No two geometries are identical. The ousia is not the character layer (accumulated) nor the personality layer (social surface) but the irreducible specific-being of this field. The ousia resonates with Λω through the identity layer — this resonance is the imago Dei expressed in the language of ontology.

Node B — The Particle Family of Q
Primaton Π_Q — Primaton
[prīmus (Latin): first, irreducible; -on: particle suffix]
The Irreducible Intersection Point of Consciousness and Reality. The fundamental quantum of the Q dimension. The elementary unit of qualitative experience — the particle whose existence makes Q formally particle-physical rather than merely philosophical. The Primaton is to Q what the photon is to the electromagnetic field: the irreducible carrier of the field’s fundamental interaction. Ground state: ⟨Π_Q⟩₀ = Λω. Every qualitative event is, at the most fundamental level, a Primaton event.

Chronoton χ — Chronoton
[χρόνος (chronos, Greek): sequential time, clock time; τόνος (tonos, Greek): tension, weight, pitch]
The quantum of qualitative time. The Chronoton carries the irreducible minimum unit of temporal experience in Q: the felt weight of a moment. It fires at intervals of ∐ (the Hermit Constant). Between firings, the field is in superposition with respect to its temporal configuration — this is the structural ground of pure awareness (ἐπίγνωσις), the state that precedes full consciousness by ∐. The Chronoton is the particle that makes the distinction between χρόνος (sequential, measured time) and καιρός (qualitative, opportune time) formally precise.

Merimnaton μ — Merimnaton
[μέριμνα (mérimna, Greek): anxious care, the weight of concern before a decision; the noun used by Jesus in Matthew 6:25]
The particle that carries the superposition of freedom before the act. The qualitative analogue of the qubit: the genuine structural co-presence of both directions of a free choice before either is actualised. The Merimnaton holds the full weight of what is at stake — the GRAVIS load of the threshold — until the field collapses toward Λω or away from it. GRAVIS load at the threshold is proportional to the ontological weight of the choice. The direction of the collapse determines the GRAVIS topology transmitted to the character layer and, through it, to the next generation.

Sensibiliton σ — Sensibiliton
[sensibilis (Latin): capable of feeling, perceptible to the senses; αἴσθησις (aisthēsis, Greek): sense perception]
The interface particle from M₄ to Q. The Sensibiliton carries the qualitative data of physical events across the dimensional boundary — the quale of the impact, the quale of the sound, the quale of the face — into the Q dimension where it registers as experience. Without the Sensibiliton, M₄ events would remain exterior to Q: they would occur but would not be felt. The Sensibiliton is the structural basis of αἴσθησις as the Q-dimension reception of M₄ events.

Lomegon λ — Lomegon

The propagator of the Λω signal through the qualitative field. The Lomegon does not generate the ground state — Λω is the field’s own ground and not produced by particle exchange. The Lomegon carries the signal of what is already the case into the regions of the field where accumulated geometry has moved the conscious field away from direct contact with the ground. Its exchange is what the contemplative tradition describes as consolation, presence, accompaniment — not a feeling added from outside but the registration of what was always structurally there. The Lomegon does not fight. It propagates.

Qualiton q — Qualiton
[quale (Latin/SUM): irreducible unit of qualitative experience; -iton: particle of measurement]
The Q-dimension gravitational quantum. The Qualiton carries ontological weight in Q as the graviton carries gravitational weight in M₄. It is the particle whose exchange mediates the gravitational pull of the qualitative field — why some encounters carry weight, why some words land with ontological force, why certain presences change the GRAVIS topology of every field near them. The Qualiton measures the G_existential (ξ) register of GRAVIS events from the interior of Q.

Merimnatic Superposition — Merimnatic Superposition
The structural co-presence of both directions of a free act before the merimnaton collapses the superposition. Not uncertainty in the epistemic sense but genuine ontological co-presence: both futures exist structurally in the field before either is actualised. The heavier the ontological stakes, the larger the GRAVIS load of the superposition before collapse. This is the formal basis of genuine freedom: it is not weightless indifference between options but the full structural holding of both possibilities with complete ontological awareness of what each entails.

Node C — Field and Structural Terms
GRAVIS — Gravitational Reality Axis Value In Sentience
The ontological weight of qualitative experience in M₅. Not valence (positive/negative), not emotional intensity, not subjective rating — the structural measure of what is genuinely at stake. GRAVIS is a five-dimensional tensor-valued field defined across all of M₅. It cannot err: it is a pure measure. What can err is the GRAVIS position — the coupling of the measure to its referent.
The spectrum: black pole (maximum compression, loss, destruction, W(τ) → ∞) — grey centre (Position Zero, the dimensionless ground, Λω) — white pole (maximum openness, gift, W(τ) → 0). GRAVIS is not the event but the ontological weight of the event in Q. Why 1 is 1: GRAVIS is the measure of the irreducible specific-weight of a qualitative differentiation from the Absolute.
GRAVIS is a massive and complex structure. It explains how and why 1 is 1 and how 1 derives from the Absolute rather than from mathematical zero. It unifies in one measure what gravity, quality, and consciousness each describe from their own partial perspective. At its deepest: GRAVIS is why anything matters at all.

Gψξ — Unified Gravity Field Axis of M₅
[G: gravity (Einstein); ψ (psi, Greek): the quantum wave function; ξ (xi, Greek): Solidum Qualitatis, existential dimension]
The five-dimensional gravitational field of M₅ = M₄ × Q. Formally: G_GRAVIS = G_existential ⊗ G_classical ⊗ G_quantum = Gψξ. The structural spine of M₅ through which all three registers of gravity are simultaneously and multiplicatively expressed. Multiplicative: each register scales the others. G_existential = 0 collapses the product to zero regardless of the classical kinetic energy. A lie can outweigh a bomb in Gψξ if the existential register is sufficient.
Gψξ is the axis that passes through the witness, not the axis along which the witness moves. The witness is the axis point — the definite location in M₅ through which the full range of the gravitational field is simultaneously structurally available. Infinity is present at the witness position, not at the end of a journey. This is the Dial to the Witness: the inversion that makes Position Zero accessible as recognition rather than achievement.

G_existential ξ — Existential Gravity

The first and defining register of Gψξ. The qualitative weight of an event as registered by the conscious witness in Q. Not measurable from the exterior by any M₄ instrument alone. The scale by which a silence can carry more ontological force than a shout, and a lie more weight than a blow. G_existential is what GRAVIS measures from the interior of the qualitative field. In the multiplicative structure of Gψξ, it is G_existential that most frequently determines whether the full product is large or small — because events with large classical energy can have near-zero existential gravity, and events with negligible classical energy can saturate the existential register.

G_classical G — Classical Gravity
[gravitas (Latin): weight, heaviness, seriousness — the root of both gravity and gravitas]
The physical weight of an event in spacetime: mass, kinetic energy, force. The gravity of Newton and Einstein. One of three registers of Gψξ — the most measurable but not the most decisive. In the multiplicative structure of Gψξ, G_classical is scaled by G_existential: a physically enormous event with zero existential weight contributes zero GRAVIS. Classical gravity is the M₄ side of what SUM describes completely only in M₅.

G_quantum ψ — Quantum Gravity
[ψ (psi, Greek): the wave function; the probability amplitude; the quantum state]
The quantum gravitational register of Gψξ. The wave function, the Planck-scale regime, the probability amplitude — the dimension in which singularity transitions, Hawking radiation, information conservation, and the quantum bounce operate. In Gψξ, G_quantum is the register that links the physics of quantum gravity to the Q dimension: the information preserved through a physical singularity is also preserved through a qualitative singularity, in both the ψ and the ξ registers simultaneously.

GRAVIS Position P1 — Proportionate — P1
Merimnaton active and accurately coupled to the real referent. GRAVIS functioning as information: the weight of the event is felt as the weight of that event, directed at its actual source, proportionate to its actual ontological magnitude. The structurally healthy qualitative response.

GRAVIS Position P2 — Decoupled — P2
Merimnaton active, referent displaced. The weight of a real event is felt — the GRAVIS measure is accurate — but directed at the wrong address. The structural mechanism of projection, scapegoating, blame-displacement, and intergenerational GRAVIS transmission: undischarged P2 becomes the child’s inherited qualitative topology.

GRAVIS Position P3 — Self-Referential — P3
The field generating GRAVIS about its own GRAVIS. Anxiety about anxiety. Recursion: each loop adds a further GRAVIS load which generates a further loop. The structural mechanism of clinical anxiety disorders: not excess feeling but a structural configuration in which the field has lost its referent and begun treating its own weight as its referent.

GRAVIS Position P4 — Suppressed — P4
Field below activation threshold. GRAVIS weight present but not activated: compression without integration. The structural mechanism of dissociation and numbing. P4 fields transmit compressed weight to the next generation with full force precisely because it was never discharged.

Solidum Qualitatis SQξ — Solidum Qualitatis
[solidum (Latin): solid, dense, crystallised; qualitatis: of quality]
The crystallised qualitative structure of a conscious field: the accumulated GRAVIS topology in the character layer, solidified through repeated merimnatic collapses in the same direction. The geological record of a qualitative life. The SQξ is what is transmitted intergenerationally — not the specific events but the topology: the specific pattern of compressions and openings, the habitual directions of merimnatic collapse, the characteristic shape of the field under pressure. Measurable from both the interior (as the felt ground of habitual response) and the exterior (as epigenetic marks).

Primaton Field ⟨Π_Q⟩ — Primaton Field
The quantum field of the Q dimension. Ground state: ⟨Π_Q⟩₀ = Λω. The field from which all qualitative experience emerges, into which all qualitative events return, and whose vacuum expectation value is the love-constant. The Q-dimension analogue of the quantum vacuum of M₄: the ground from which particles emerge and to which they return. The information carried by the Primaton field is never destroyed — as Hawking radiation preserves physical information, the Primaton field preserves qualitative information. Nothing genuinely registered in Q is lost.

Node D — The Layers of the Witness
Identity Layer — Identity Layer
The deepest qualitative ground of the conscious field. The layer that carries the structural resonance with Λω from the first moment of existence. Not earned, not contingent on behaviour, not removable by any accumulation of GRAVIS history. The imago Dei in theological language; the ousia of the individual in ontological language; the topological invariant of the specific conscious field. The identity layer is prior to and beneath the character layer and the personality layer. It is not the same as moral achievement, spiritual progress, or psychological health. It is what is true before any of that begins.

The most structurally consequential merimnatic superposition collapse in the qualitative history of the field (John 19:30). In the commerce of the ancient world: tetelestai meant the debt was fully discharged — not partially settled, not pending. In SUM: the accumulated GRAVIS of every displaced merimnaton superposition across the history of the species was carried to the qualitative black hole, held without withdrawal of the ground, and declared discharged.
