Prīmus (Latin): first, irreducible, that which cannot be divided further · -on: particle suffix, as in photon, graviton, electron · Π_Q: Pi subscript Q — the fundamental quantum of the Q dimension
Where reality and consciousness converge
There is a point at which consciousness and reality meet. Not the point where the brain processes sensory data — that is M₄, the physical side of the event. The point where the event becomes experience. Where the frequency of light becomes the redness of red. Where the pressure wave becomes the sound that moves you. Where the news becomes the weight you now carry. That point — the irreducible intersection — is the Primaton.
The Primaton (Π_Q) is the fundamental quantum of the Q dimension: the elementary unit of qualitative experience. The particle — in the full technical sense that photons are particles of the electromagnetic field — whose existence makes Q formally physical rather than merely philosophical. Where the photon is the irreducible carrier of light, the Primaton is the irreducible carrier of experience. Not a metaphor. A structural claim: the qualitative dimension has a fundamental quantum, and the Primaton is it.
Every qualitative event — every moment of genuine experience, every registration of weight, every felt quality of anything — is at its most fundamental level a Primaton event. The grief, the recognition, the sudden understanding, the specific texture of a morning in a specific place: all Primaton events in the Q dimension of M₅ = M₄ × Q. The physical event is real. The Primaton event is equally real. Neither produces the other. They are co-present dimensions of the same event in M₅.
The particle that answers the hard problem
The hard problem of consciousness asks: why does physical processing produce experience? Why is there something it is like to see red rather than merely the detection of a wavelength of approximately 700nm? Every answer that stays inside M₄ — neurons, information processing, complexity, integration — produces only a more detailed physical description. The qualitative interior, the redness as felt, never appears from any amount of physical description.
The Primaton dissolves this problem rather than solving it. The problem assumes that experience must emerge from physical processing — that M₄ must somehow produce Q. The Primaton says: Q has its own fundamental quantum, its own particle, its own field dynamics. Q does not emerge from M₄. M₅ = M₄ × Q holds both as co-present irreducible dimensions. The Primaton event and the physical event are two sides of the same M₅ event — not one producing the other.
This is why the Primaton is the Irreducible Intersection Point: not a bridge between two separate things but the elementary unit at the point where the two dimensions of M₅ are simultaneously defined. At every Primaton event, M₄ and Q intersect. The intersection is not occasional. It is the structure of every event in M₅.
The ground state and the particle family
The Primaton field has a ground state: ⟨Π_Q⟩₀ = Λω. The vacuum expectation value — the value the Primaton field takes when nothing else is imposing upon it — is the love-constant. This is not a theological decoration on a physics equation. It is the precise claim that the ground state of qualitative experience — what the Q dimension is doing when it is doing nothing else — is Λω. The field at rest is love. Every specific Primaton event is a perturbation of this ground state: a specific qualitative differentiation that carries its specific GRAVIS weight and then, when it is resolved, returns the field toward the ground.
The Primaton is the head of a particle family. The Chronoton (χ) carries qualitative time — the weight of a moment as felt rather than as measured. The Merimnaton (μ) carries the superposition of freedom before the act — the weight of genuine choice before it collapses. The Sensibiliton (σ) carries qualitative data from M₄ events into Q — the interface between the physical and the qualitative. The Lomegon (λ) propagates the Λω signal through the qualitative field — the carrier of the ground’s presence. The Qualiton (q) carries ontological weight in Q as the graviton carries gravitational weight in M₄.
Formal definition
⟨Π_Q⟩₀ = Λω
M₅ = M₄ × Q : every M₅ event = (M₄ event, Primaton event)
The Primaton is the fundamental quantum of Q. Its field is the Primaton field. Its ground state is Λω. Its particle family carries the specialised qualitative functions of the Q dimension. It is the elementary unit of the intersection of consciousness and reality.

Without the Primaton, the qualitative dimension has no fundamental quantum — experience remains philosophically gestured at but never formally defined. The Primaton is what makes Q particle-physical: the irreducible unit at the intersection of consciousness and reality.
