THE GREEK OF THE SENSIBLE UNIVERSE MODEL (Index) κόσμος (kosmos) ευαίσθητος (evaísthitos)

“Αυτός ο κόσμος δεν φιλοξένησε ποτέ έναν ευαίσθητο άνθρωπο…”

“This world never truly hosted a sensible sensitive person… it either drove them mad or crucified them”

Ordered by frequency of use · symbol, meaning, and closest quantum counterpart

Frequency is counted across the entries and articles of this lexicon. Terms native to older pages of the site — Chronoton, Solidum Qualitatis — rank lower here than they do there.

The quantum pair is the nearest counterpart in physics. Some are exact correspondences of role; others are loose. Each is marked. In every case the pairing is structural, not an identity claim.

I. THE TWO CONSTANTS

  1. Ϙ · koppa (U+03D8)
Archaic Greek letter, ancestor of the Latin Q, unused for some twenty-five centuries. In this model it names the qualitative dimension: the second factor of M₅ = M₄ × Ϙ.
Quantum pair: the internal space of a dimension: A coordinate direction, degree of freedom, or measurement axis (like length, width, height, or time) that defines the structural “arena” or space where fields exist. There is no close pair, and the absence is the point. The nearest analogues in physics are the internal spaces of gauge theory: colour space, isospin space. Those are genuine non-spatial arenas in which fields take values, so structurally they’re the right shape. But they’re bookkeeping for symmetry rather than places where distinct events occur, which is precisely what Ϙ is meant to be. The useful part is what that absence tells you. Everything built on Ϙ has a real counterpart — Λω to the vacuum expectation value, Primaton to a field and its quantum, Lomegon to the propagator — because the model deliberately borrows field-theoretic grammar to furnish the dimension. But the dimension itself has none, because a dimension genuinely irreducible to M₄ shouldn’t have a counterpart inside M₄. If Ϙ had a tight physics pairing, that would be evidence against the model’s central claim, not for it. So the blank in that row is doing work. It’s the one place in the glossary where the right answer is that physics has nothing to offer, and the model predicts exactly that.
  2. Λω · Lomega
Lambda-omega. The love-constant: the nonzero ground state of the qualitative field, ⟨Π_Ϙ⟩₀ = Λω. Not a feeling; a constant.
Quantum pair: the vacuum expectation value, ⟨φ⟩ ≠ 0. The Higgs field’s nonzero rest value is the direct structural parallel. Exact in role.

II. FIELD AND QUANTA

  1. Π · Primaton (π + Latin primus)
The qualitative field, Π_Ϙ, and its elementary quantum. A hybrid coinage: Latin root, Greek particle-suffix.
Quantum pair: a field and its quantum — the Higgs field and the Higgs boson. Exact in role.
  2. Qualiton · q (Latin qualis + -on)
The quantum of qualitative registration; what arrives when something crosses a gate.
Quantum pair: a field quantum, a particle excitation. Exact in role.
  3. χρῶμα, ἀκούω, ὀσμή, γεῦσις, κίνησις
chroma (colour), akouō (hear), osmē (smell), geusis (taste), kinēsis (movement) — the roots of chromaton, akouoton, osmeton, gefseton and kinestiton, one Qualiton per gate.
Quantum pair: distinct particle species: quanta of different fields, not degrees of one. Exact in role.
  4. σ · Sensibiliton (Latin sensibilis + -on)
The particle of the interface: what crosses a gate from M₄ into Ϙ.
Quantum pair: a mediating boson — a force carrier passing between fields. Moderate.
  5. λ · Lomegon
The propagator of the ground signal, carrying Λω into each gate.
Quantum pair: the propagator — in field theory, the function carrying a field between points. Exact, including the name.

III. THE BOUNDARY

  1. πύλαι · pylai
The gates: the five senses, taken together as ∂Ϙ, the boundary of the qualitative dimension. Literally city gates — the gates of Thermopylae are the “hot gates.”
Quantum pair: the measurement interface; boundary conditions on a field. Moderate.
  2. αἰσθητήρια · aisthētēria
Aristotle’s term for the organs of sense considered as the seat of perception rather than as tissue.
Quantum pair: the detector — the apparatus at which a system is registered. Good.
  3. ϙόππα · koppa (the letter-name)
The name of the letter itself, as against the dimension it now denotes.
Quantum pair: none. Notational rather than physical.
  4. κ · kappa
The Einstein gravitational constant, κ = 8πG/c⁴, appearing in the M₅ field equation as κ₅. Etymological sibling of koppa: both descend from separate Phoenician signs that met on one Greek sound.
Quantum pair: a coupling constant — how strongly one thing couples to another. Exact; it is the physics term.

IV. RECOGNITION AND CHOICE

  1. κατάλληλος · katállilos
Mutually corresponding — from κατά (kata: according to) and ἀλλήλων (allēlōn: one another). Fit: the condition in which something is received completely as what it is. Recognition, not coupling.
Quantum pair: the selection rule, and the nonzero overlap ⟨f|i⟩ that permits a transition at all. Strong.
  2. καταλληλότης · katallēlotēs
Mutuality. Used by the grammarian Apollonius Dyscolus for correctness in syntax — words fitting together.
Quantum pair: the transition amplitude — the matrix element that says whether and how strongly a change can occur. Moderate.
  3. ἀκαταλληλότης · akatallēlotēs
Its opposite: the error. Misfit — received as what it is not.
Quantum pair: a forbidden transition; zero amplitude. Good.
  4. βούλευσις · bouleusis
Deliberation. Engaging: the weighing that assembles what a choice will be a choice between.
Quantum pair: the choice of measurement basis — the apparatus fixing what can be observed. Strong.
  5. προαίρεσις · prohairesis
Deliberate choice; Aristotle’s deliberative desire, ὄρεξις βουλευτική (orexis bouleutikē). The collapse, occurring at the crossing.
Quantum pair: wavefunction collapse on measurement. Strong.
  6. βούλησις · boulēsis
Wish. Distinguished by Aristotle from choice: a wish may attach to the impossible and issue in nothing.
Quantum pair: a state never prepared. Loose.
  7. μ · Merimnaton (μέριμνα, merimna: care, concern)
The particle of freedom before the act; possibilities genuinely held open.
Quantum pair: superposition — several outcomes available, none yet actual. Strong.

V. FACETS AND INHERITED TERMS

  1. Λόγος · Logos
Word, reason, account, ratio — from λέγειν (legein: to gather, to reckon). A facet of Λω, glossed as the rational ground and information conservation.
Quantum pair: unitarity — the principle that information is conserved under quantum evolution. Exact for the gloss.
  2. ἀλήθεια · Aletheia
Unconcealment; truth as what is uncovered. A facet of Λω, and the condition of shared qualitative reality between two fields.
Quantum pair: entanglement — a shared state not reducible to either party. Moderate.
  3. κένωσις · kenosis
Self-emptying, from κενός (kenos: empty). Paul’s term for Christ taking the form of a servant; in this lexicon, the emptying that discloses fullness.
Quantum pair: the vacuum that is not empty — a ground state with nonzero value. Moderate.
  4. συμμετρία · symmetria
Measured-togetherness, due proportion. Its rupture is what a Higgs-type potential performs.
Quantum pair: symmetry, and spontaneous symmetry breaking. Exact; it is the physics term.
  5. χ · Chronoton (χρόνος, chronos: time)
The quantum of qualitative time; entry 11 of the lexicon.
Quantum pair: the Planck time, and proposals for time quantisation. Moderate.
  6. τ · tau
Qualitative time, τ_Ϙ, against coordinate time t. Their ratio W(τ) = dτ_Ϙ/dt is the direct measure of GRAVIS.
Quantum pair: proper time — though this belongs to relativity rather than quantum theory. Note the different discipline.
  7. ξ · xi
Symbol of Solidum Qualitatis, SQξ: where the qualitative field condenses into presence.
Quantum pair: the order parameter — the quantity that becomes nonzero when a system orders. Moderate.

A NOTE ON THE HYBRIDS

D∞
A Note: The Unbounded in Which the Model Rests

D∞: the infinite; the absolute in which the five-dimensional world rests, and the boundless within which the witness abides. Neither Greek nor Latin: a Latin letter and a mathematical sign.

WHERE IT APPEARS

D∞ occurs in two places in this lexicon, and nowhere else. It names where Position Zero rests, and it is the term corresponding to contemplatio on the four-rung ladder — the received seeing, the witness that no longer strives.

It was left out of the Greek index because it is not Greek, and it sits alongside ∂ among the symbols that belong to neither classical language.

NOT A SIXTH DIMENSION

This is the first thing to state, because the notation invites the error.

M₅ = M₄ × Ϙ is complete as a statement of what reality is made of. D∞ is not a further factor. Reality is not M₄ × Ϙ × D∞.

Mathematics gives the exact analogy. ∞ is not a number. It is not a member of the set of reals, and it does not obey arithmetic — add one to it and nothing changes. It marks where the numbers do not stop. D∞ stands to dimensions as ∞ stands to numbers: not one more of them, but the unboundedness in which they are set.

WHY THE WITNESS RESTS THERE

Position Zero is undetermined — the gray zero point, nothing fixed in any direction. An undetermined point needs somewhere to subsist that does not determine it, and a bounded space would: boundaries specify. D∞ names the unboundedness that leaves P₀ undetermined while still being somewhere.

This is also why the pairing on the ladder is exact rather than decorative. Contemplatio is the rung no effort reaches, the seeing that is received and not achieved.

A witness that no longer strives, is a witness resting where nothing is required of it.

THE NEAREST COUNTERPART

In projective geometry, the point at infinity is a point added to close a space: it belongs to the completed figure without being a point of the original. Parallel lines meet there, and nowhere else. The construction is standard, and it does precisely what D∞ does — it completes without being a member.

Hilbert space, being infinite-dimensional, is the nearer quantum object but the poorer analogy. Its infinity is a count of dimensions. D∞’s is not a count of anything.

IS IT AN AXIOM?

This needs deciding rather than assuming, because it bears on the blueprint.

A1 to A6 posit structure. D∞ posits what the structure rests in, which is a different kind of claim. And nothing in the derivation depends on it: remove D∞ and the gates, the ground, the weight, the witness and the ethics all stand unchanged.

As A7 — reality rests in an unbounded absolute.
Honest, but it adds a posit that does no work.
As horizon — D∞ marks where the model stops, not a further claim.

The second is recommended. An axiom that carries no consequence should be cut from an axiom set, and the model’s own discipline is to leave the mystery standing rather than pave it. D∞ names that mystery, declines to describe it, and is honest about declining.

A THEOLOGICAL NOTE

This is the one place where the model touches classical theism directly, and it is better to say so than to let a reader discover it unannounced.

In Aquinas’s language God is not a being among beings but being itself, ipsum esse subsistens — which is why God cannot appear as an item in any inventory of what exists. D∞ points in that direction without absorbing it: not naming God, not excluding God, marking the place where the question passes out of the model’s competence.

A model that ended by quietly identifying its own furthest term with God would have overreached. A model with no such term at all would have implied there is nothing further. The notation does neither.

FORMAL DESCRIPTION

D∞ — the unbounded; not a dimension, not a factor of M₅
Not a member of the structure it completes
P₀ rests in D∞; contemplatio corresponds
Nearest counterpart: the point at infinity (projective geometry)
Status: horizon, not axiom

See also: Position Zero P₀, 9 · Λω – Lomega, 3 · Λω = Amor: A Clarification and the Blueprint · The Greek of the Sensible Universe Model (Index) · Nunc Stans, 40

∞ is not the largest number. D∞ is not the sixth dimension. Both name where counting stops.

Latin terms

Four central terms are Latin and are excluded from the list above: GRAVIS (heavy, weighty — the weight of an experience), gravitas (weightiness of bearing — the weight borne by the one who chose), Iustitia (justice as right proportion, a facet of Λω), and Nunc Stans (the standing now). Solidum Qualitatis is likewise Latin, though its symbol ξ is Greek.

One further symbol is neither Greek nor Latin: ∂, pronounced “del” or “partial.”, the boundary operator of topology, written ∂Ϙ. Its quantum pair is the holographic boundary — the surface on which a bulk region’s information is encoded.

Greek anchors the terms; the natural languages carry the resonance; physics lends the grammar. None of the three is asked to do the work of another.

Several coinages are not Greek throughout. The particle-suffix -on is Greek, taken from the pattern of electron, proton and photon — but the roots beneath it vary. Primaton carries Latin primus; Sensibiliton, Latin sensibilis; Qualiton, Latin qualis. Merimnaton and Chronoton are Greek in both parts.

These are working coinages rather than classical words, and the mixture is worth stating rather than concealing.
